AI in the Skilled Trades

Full order books, empty applicant folders: in the skilled trades, time is the scarcest resource. Artificial intelligence (AI) gives it back — not on the construction site, but in the office, where quotes, invoices and scheduling cost evenings and weekends today.

AI in the trades does not mean robots. It means a quote is created in minutes instead of hours, the invoice almost writes itself from the work report, and customer enquiries are sorted before you read them.

We set up these tools so they fit your business — connected to your trade software, GDPR-compliant and without you needing an IT department. And we train your team so the relief lasts.

challenges

Where the industry gets stuck

Office work after hours

Quotes, invoices and post-costing land on the boss — after eight hours on site.

Enquiries left waiting

Whoever waits for a quote calls the next business. Slow answers cost jobs.

Patchy documentation

Measurements, photos and timesheets are spread across notes, phones and WhatsApp — when warranty questions arise, the evidence is missing.

Scheduling chaos with emergencies

An emergency call-out upsets the weekly plan; rescheduling happens by phone and from memory.

use cases

Concrete AI use cases

Six entry points proven in practice — each connected to your existing systems and data.

Quotation assistant

From enquiry, photos and service catalogue, a draft quote with items and prices emerges — you check and send it.

Enquiry pre-qualification

AI sorts incoming enquiries by trade, urgency and region and suggests the reply right away.

Site documentation by voice

Dictated notes and photos automatically become structured reports — the basis for invoicing and warranty.

Invoice from the work report

Hours, materials and travel flow automatically into the draft invoice in your trade software.

Deployment and route planning

Appointments, travel times and qualifications are planned together — emergencies are slotted in instead of improvised.

Office automation

Dunning, appointment confirmations and supplier orders run as automated processes in the background.

Use funding

Trade businesses are almost always SMEs — so in Saxony the SAB digitalisation grant and nationwide the BAFA consulting subsidy with the highest funding rates are open to them. Nationwide, the Qualifizierungschancengesetz funds further training for your employees with up to 100% of course costs — Sellium is an AZAV-certified training provider.

Frequently asked questions

Does AI pay off for a business with five people?

Especially then. The smaller the office, the more every hour saved counts. Quote and invoice assistants often pay for themselves with just a few cases per week.

We have no IT department — who looks after it?

We set up the solutions so they run day to day without administration and stay on board as a contact if you wish. Your team learns to operate everything in the training.

Does that work with our trade software?

Mostly yes — common industry solutions offer interfaces or export routes. What is possible for you is clarified in a short IT check before anything is commissioned.

What about customer data and privacy?

Customer data is processed in compliance with GDPR, on request exclusively on systems in Germany. We work on the principle of Privacy First AI.

Are there grants for trade businesses?

Yes. In Saxony the SAB funds digitalisation projects of trade SMEs, BAFA subsidises consulting, training runs via the Qualifizierungschancengesetz. Our funding quick check shows you the right route.
